Festança Junina is held annually at the Maranhão Craft Products Marketing Center (Ceprama) and marks the opening of the São João calendar in São Luís.
The event is traditionally held at the end of May, in the week before the arrival of June, with a program that includes open shows by local artists, performances by cacuriá and Bumba Meu Boi groups of different accents.
