Founded in 1612 by the French, São Luís’ birthday is celebrated on September 8th.
Every year, several festivities mark the date. Among them, the official celebrations organized by the City of São Luís at Praça Maria Aragão with a diverse program spread over several days, starting on Regueiro Municipal Day, presentations of different musical styles and presentations by popular culture groups.
